It is extremely surprising that Greenland’s ice sheets are melting this quickly. No one really expected that it would melt this fast. It is melting so quickly that it is becoming dangerous.
The ice sheets in Greenland are 2 miles thick and 3 times the size of Texas. There is enough ice on Greenland that if it melted then, according to the National Snow and Ice Data Center and other studies, sea levels around coastal areas like Miami and San Diego would rise by 23 feet. That is like the sea level rising by two tsunamis!

We need to lower the amount of carbon emissions to slow down the greenhouse effect, and thus global climate change. Emissions from cars are large contributors to climate change.
